Individual Major Medical

I represent many companies, all of which fit certain situations well. None of them fits every situation the best. My job is to help you match what you want with what certain companies do. Here are some issues that should be of concern to you:
-
Are you trying to get coverage for doctor visits, with a prescription card, etc., that covers lots of little things? OR are you more concerned about catastrophic coverage, while keeping premiums down?
-
How will a company look at my health history, my height/weight, the prescriptions I take, and other factors? Each company is different.
-
Exactly what does a company’s office copay really pay for? Does it cover services other than the physicians charge, like lab and x-ray? Does it cover preventative? If so, what are the limitations? Does the policy limit the number of office visits per year under the copay?
-
If you have a large claim – a car accident, cancer, heart surgery, etc., exactly how much should this cost you under each policy? What is the deductible, plus the coinsurance, plus anything not covered by policy limitations.
-
Health Savings Account plans are great for many people. With these plans you have a relatively high deductible($1100-$5000 for an individual), and you can fund little medical expenses through a tax deductible Health Savings Account.
-
What is the rate guarantee? 6 Months, 12 Months, or 18 Months?
-
If you are self-employed, do you know that 100% of your premiums are tax deductible, starting in 2003? This may impact the decisions make in choosing coverage.
